Musical Inspiration

My daughters just watched Meet the Robinsons the other night, I think it’s a fun one but having seen it before I noticed the music this time.  I love the sentiment expressed in the song by Rob Thomas, Little Wonders.

I made this one for a friend who recently lost her mother.  I do so much better with clay than with writing notes.

Birthday Book

With my husband still stuck in Virginia we are seeing him about once every two months, what is it about flying out of that area that seems to add about $100 more than other big cities.  Well, rant over, he isn’t here but he sent me exactly what I wanted for my birthday.

Steampunkery by Cristi Friesen.  She is such an amazing artist, she makes it look so effortless.  Her work is interesting, detailed and fun.  The book is great, so many fun ideas.  I’ve already made some more of my little houses with found item embellishments.  Check it out at her web page or on Amazon.

Fiddlehead

Growing up I lived in Kent, Washington for a few years.  We lived at the end of the street and the lot next to ours was a forest.  A beautiful, musty smelling, mossy green forest.  I have never forgotten how green everything there was, you don’t know green if you haven’t seen the green of Washington, or Oregon for that matter.

I love fiddleheads, they remind me of the ferns next door.  Fiddleheads are baby ferns that have not unfurled yet.  I just like saying fiddlehead, and sometimes feel like I’ve spend the whole day being a ‘fiddlehead’.

Two Hearts

Custom work is so inspiring.  I am completing a project for a sweet woman who wanted some scripture references on her hearts.  What a great idea, I’ve already done a few more along that line.

Inspiration

Working on a custom order yesterday, I love when someone has a clear idea of what they’d like.  I like it even better when it’s a great idea.  These hearts will have a lace pattern on them.  It’s working well.

My Mother

My mom is my biggest fan.  Living at home again, I have a mini studio in my room and that’s where I work.  When my mom gets home from work each day I’m excited to show her what I am doing, what I made during the day. 

She is so good about supporting me, I am so overwhelmed by her generosity already – the roof over my head, the warm bed, the treadmill in the basement.

These are the hearts I was excited to show her.
